Please
browse below some of our recommendations on where to fish around
Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
Makins Fisheries:

Wolvey Road, Bulkington,
Warwickshire
Makin Fisheries offers 18 lakes and pools with more than 600 swims to suit
all types of coarse anglers from 'Big game' carp and barbel haulers to
pole fanatics. The fishery has been progressively developed over the past
15 years and in 1998 was nominated as an ATA 'Centre of Excellence' - only
the third fishery in the UK to receive such an award.
Despite its reputation as a
match fishery, four lakes and more than 120 pegs are never competition
fished and are always available for pleasure anglers.
With bloodworm and joker being
the only bait bans, the idea is to catch fish and enjoy yourselves. The
only rules which need to be observed are that barbless hooks must be used,
Dynamite Baits 'Swimstim' green pellets are the only pellets to be fed and
that keep nets, dogs and night fishing are not allowed. Simply turn up and
fish, bailiffs are on hand to offer advice and assistance.

Mill Farm
Fishery:
Gilmorton, Lutterworth,
Leicestershire
Two lakes, one a former sand and
gravel quarry which flooded in 1958, the other a purpose-built fishery
which was established in 1991 and is suitable for the disabled, provide
mixed sport for both pleasure and match anglers. Joint owner Pat Baker is
a keen and proficient photographer who is happy to take photographs of
anglers with their catches and supply colour prints. In addition,
refreshments and bait are available and there is an on-site area for touring caravans and tents, although no fires are allowed.

Coombe Pool:
Coombe
Country Park, Brinklow Road, Binley Coventry
Coombe Country Park, until
recently known as Coombe Abbey, has been a popular leisure attraction on
the outskirts of the city of Coventry for many years.
Once acclaimed as one of the country's
leading big bream match waters, Coombe Pool now concentrates on providing
pleasure and specimen angling for day ticklet and season ticket anglers on
what is still one of the UK's most prolific bream and zander fisheries
with bream to 10lbs and double figure zander to 16lbs regularly being
banked.
In 2006, one angler pleasure fishing for
bream took over 40 fish for a bag which weighed over 240lbs whilst a group
of three anglers fishing the Deer Park on the Lindley Bank had over
1,000lbs of fish in a three day stint.
Fisherwick Lakes:
Fisherwick Wood Lane,
Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire
Fisherwick Lakes form part of what
used to be the Fisherwick Hall estate, the stately home of the former
Marquis of Donegal in the 18th Century. Although the original Fisherwick
Hall only survived for about 50 years - reputedly thanks to the Marquis's
passion for gambling and the urgency of his creditors who took everything
they could including the stonework to pay for his losses! - the original
coach house escaped their ravages and stands today at Fisherwick Hall and
today is all that remains of this once splendid house.
Set in 32 acres, Fisherwick Lakes
themselves offers day-ticket coarse and game fishing on a total of seven
lakes and pools which for the most part were originally gravel workings
and which now offer a wide variety of sport from large open waters to
small, reed-lined and lily-clad pools. The angling varies from double
figure trout to 20lb-plus carp, from roach and rudd to decent bream and
tench.
