One Region, One Environment, Many People
Would you like to be able to make your local environment a better place for people and wildlife? Are you persuasive, confident and able to influence change? Are you interested in how a changing climate will effect our landscape and the diverse communities who live there?
As guardian and champion of the environment at a time of great change, the Environment Agency relies on its regional committee members to help shape and steer our work and demonstrate real environmental leadership

amongst their peers and networks and out in the community.
Our committees are vitally important to our success. Members act as ambassadors for both the environment and the Environment Agency. They represent a very wide range of customer and stakeholder groups, bringing knowledge and experience to help inform our decisions and access to the varied audiences we need to reach.
We currently have vacancies on our Regional Fisheries, Ecology and Recreation Committee and also on our Regional Environment Protection committee. If you can bring enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to either of these committees, then we really want to hear from you. Applications from those who have experience of working with those with disabilities or diverse communities will be particularly welcomed.
The committees meet three times a year in our regional office. All positions are non-salaried but members can claim travel expenses and, in some cases, subsistence and financial loss allowance. All candidates must live in the Environment Agencys Southern region which covers Kent, East and West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
If youre ready to make a real difference, request an application pack and tell us why youre perfect for this opportunity.
If youd like an informal chat about these posts, you can call Amanda Latham on 01903 832128.
Application packs are available from Sue Lade, Committee Services, External Relations at the Environment Agency. Our address is Guildbourne House. Chatsworth Road, Worthing, West Sussex. BN11 1LD.
The closing date for applications is 3 April 2009. Appointees will take up their posts in June 2009.
We are currently looking to fill positions currently available on the Environment Agency's Southern Regional Committees, advising the Agency on Fisheries, Recreation, Conservation and Navigation, or on Environmental Protection issues.
